12 weeks

I can't believe it has already been 12 weeks since Lilliana has entered this world. She is so amazing, and growing way too fast. She can roll onto her side, she talks, laughs, plays - she has a happy and somewhat stubborn personality. She is a really good baby, she isn't difficult at all - at least not for me. We sleep somewhere between 8-10 hours per night and she usually goes with the nap schedule I gave her.

Recently I've noticed that she is started to watch tv or notice the tv when we walk through a room that has one. I think I will be needed to get her some good cartoon dvds pretty soon. We watch baby Einstein, but honestly there is only so much baby Einstein that I can handle.

A couple weeks ago she got her first shots, she was not a happy camper. She had two in one leg, one in the other and some oral drops. She ended up with a fever that weekend - I am definitely not looking forward to her next appointment. It was so difficult to watch her be in so much pain. She is now 23.25 inches tall and 11 lbs 9.4oz :)

After getting professional photos done I realized they are extremely expensive. $100 for one 8x10 - yea right! So I started taking my one and photoshopping them, much cheaper this way. Here are a couple, I can't add them all in case any family members were to stumble on here and see something before Christmas :)

Merry Christmas to all! I will take lots of pictures of Lillianas first Christmas, I can't wait!

6 weeks and 3 days...

It sure is hard keeping up with a blog with my little girl in my arms. I use to be online numerous times a day and now it is nice if I get on once every 5 days. I will try and keep this as updated as possible, but who knows how it will go.

Lily is doing great. As of Friday she weighs 9lbs 13oz and is 21 inches tall. I am so happy that she is gaining weight so well now. The first scare was a little stressful but it turned out the nurse had weighed her wrong. We just went and had professional mommy and me pictures done, I can't wait to see them.

She is such a strong baby, she loves to be active push with her legs, stare into your eyes and now she is starting to smile. She can hold her head up and is quite the wiggler as well.

She's gotta have some boots!

First Bath

After her first bath - giving me the eye...already!

Of course she is a duck!

Two weeks and one day :)

I have been a mommy for 2 weeks and 1 day now. It is the most amazing thing; I could have never imagined such an amazing feeling and experience. There aren’t words to explain the way I feel.

The birth experience didn’t go as planned by any means. I was induced with pitocin…and a lot of it because my body wasn’t responding to the low dosage…then bam my body started to respond. Pitocin is a very very evil drug… that is all I have to say about it. I was induced at 2pm and started pushing at 8pm, and pushed for 46 minutes and my little angle entered the world.

Lilliana Rose Mary Kampstra was born on 9/24/10 at 8:46pm 6lbs 11oz and 19.5 inches long. It is crazy to think how small she was considering she was 10 days late and not planning on coming on her own quite yet. I did start to go into labor on my own the night before my induction but it wasn’t moving along fast enough for the doctors liking. I definitely put up a fight for a good 5 hours before they finally induced me.
I love being a mommy and Lilliana is a very happy baby, I have been blessed.  It is tough commuting back and forth between Salem and Forest Grove but we make do.

Overall Lil is very healthy as well, breastfeeding has been going well but sadly she isn’t gaining weight. She still isn’t back to her birth weight yet. On day 13 she was only 6lbs 8.5oz so we go back on Wednesday for another weigh in. We may end up running some more tests and depending on those results she may start on formula in addition to breast milk.

Finally finished Lils quilt yesterday, it didn't turn out how I had wanted but I am just happy I got it done before she arrives. I found out it is not the easiest thing to quilt without a table and without my rotary cutters.

Any day now :)

37 weeks - love love love

Today we are 37 weeks along! It is amazing how close we are getting to that 40 week mark! So far she is a very healthy little baby in there, and I am scrambling a bit to get everything ready for her amazing arrival. I have opted out of knowing whether or not I am beginning to dilate, I figure when she decides it is her time to arrive that I will be well aware of her decision!

This week I am trying to figure out all the little details that I have left to arrange. I am shopping for a play yard so that when she is at Nana's or her Daddy's place she will have a nice safe place to sleep. That is the only downside to the very nice crib her Papa bought her, it doesn't move :) I also need to get a boppy, but that isn't as urgent but I doubt I will be out much when she arrives so I might as well get that now as well. Then I definitely need to get some swaddle blankets, I want to make sure she is as comfortable as can be coming into this crazy world of ours.

I think I definitely am good on diapers for a bit. My sis and a good friend both made me a diaper cake last weekend. I will post a picture for you all to enjoy. It meant so much that they put so much time into something for my little girl.

Last week Bryson and I took our birth plan to Dr. Bennett. She didn't seem the most open to all of our ideas of a natural birth which was a little saddening. We are going to speak with her more this week about it. I don't want to have my labor induced with pitocin, which is not looked upon favorably from a lot of surgeons...which is what OBs are..they are surgeons..they aren't trained in natural birthing.

36 weeks!!!

36 weeks today (who ever said pregnancy was 9 months was playing a cruel joke on pregnant women, because today I am 9 months and not going into labor yet!) I am so excited for my baby girls arrival into the world so very soon. Dr. Bennett says I have at least 1 more week to go, but I am still 4 weeks away from my due date so we shall see what happens :) The anticipation makes it difficult to focus on much else besides baby stuff.

Over the weekend I got Lils clothes and blankets washed and ready for her and figured out what I still need to get. I am going with Seventh Generation diapers for now, I really hope they work out well. They aren't really any more expensive than the regular brands but they are chlorine and bleach free as well as eco-friendly.

Dad is setting up her crib this week and her crib set should be arriving any day as well.

Also I am getting close to finishing the quilt, it has taken me way too long. I get distracted and tired very easily so only a little gets done each time I work on it. The front part is all done, I just need to do the back and it will be good to go.

For all of my prego friends out there...check out Hypnobirthing, it is an amazing book. I am only about half way through it but it lays out everything and explains how our bodies are built for birthing children and how society has turned this wonderful and beautiful process into an illness that ends in "pain" but it doesn't have to be that way. Trust in your body, and things will go as they should!

5 weeks to go!

I am so excited to meet my Lily Rose very soon. It seems like it took a while to get to this point, but now I can't believe I am here.

On Wednesday I had a doctors appointment and it went very well. Dr. Bennett says I have at least 2 weeks to go before I give birth.

This weekend I plan on getting her clothes washed, all her things unpacked and perhaps a little shopping spree for the random items left on my list.

I am so excited! I can't focus, I feel like a little kid getting ready for Christmas.

Here are some pics of Lily. They are old now, but since I am just now starting this blog I figured she needed to be up here :)

Love. Xoxo
